The Road to Passchendaele C.D

The Isle of Cumbrae have now produced their first C.D entitled "The Road to Passchendaele". The C.D was made to coincide with the bands recent trip to Passchendaele in Ypres Belgium.

The Battle of Passchendaele, also referred to as the Third Battle of Ypres, was a campaign of the First World War, fought by the Allies of World War I against the German Empire. The battle took place on the Western Front, from July to November 1917, for control of the ridges south and east of the Belgian city of Ypres in West Flanders, as part of a strategy decided by the Allies at conferences in November 1916 and May 1917. Passchendaele lay on the last ridge east of Ypres, 5 miles (8.0 km) from a railway junction at Roulers, which was vital to the supply system of the German 4th Army.

The battle of Passchendaele alongside word war I as a whole set the theme for the C.D with many of the tunes relating directly to this era in time. The tracks on the C.D include:

1. The Road to Pachendaele

2. Wee 6/8's

3. Highland Cathedral

4. Skye Bound

5. Scotland the Brave

6. Mist Covered Mountains

7. Cattles Landing

8. Battle of the Somme

9. Farewell to the Creeks

10. Flowers of the Forrest

11. 1914 Set

12. The Black Bear
