First outing of the Year - Dasher Parade

The band kick started its 2015 season with its annual outing at the Dasher Parade in Ardrossan. The Dasher Parade is a parade along the sea front of Ardrossan to the HMS Dasher Memorial where a service takes place to honour the deceased. The HMS Dasher was a British Royal Navy aircraft carrier, of the Avenger class – converted merchant vessels, which suffered a major internal explosion and sank with a death toll of, 379 out of 528 crewmen.

The band lead the memorial parade from the Lauriston Hotel in Ardrossan in blistering winds and soaking wet conditions to the Dasher Memorial. Despite this the band held up well, sounding strong and doing the men and women who lost their lives on the HMS Dasher proud.

Another great turn out by the band on both a piping and drumming front and we look forward to our next engagement at the NA School Tattoo in Irvine Royal Academy on Friday the 8th of May.
