Isle of Cumbrae Return to Bressuire, France

Over the weekend of 12-15 June the band returned to Bressuire Highland Games in northern France. The Band had previously attended the games in 2005, 2009 and 2010, so after a five year break we looked forward to returning. The Band flew out on Friday 12th June from Glasgow Airport into Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport and after an 8 hour drive, we finally arrived at MFR rue de chachon in Bressuire, which was the local school where the band were based.

The bands first performance of the weekend was designed to attract locals to the games through a 20 minute performance at the Carrefour superstore, which was a local supermarket. Then it was off to park where the games were held for a performance on stage infront of a large audience. Moving into the evening then band play in the first of many massed bands alongside Fraserburgh Royal Brittish Legion Pipe Band, Deeside Caledonia Pipe Band, Aubigny Pipe Band and The De La Salle Scout Pipe Band. The Final performance of the Saturday was in the evening concert, where the band played solo, before once again playing in a massed band.

After a "Quiet" night ... the band kicked off the Sunday with another small concert on stage, before a massed band to open the World Championship Heavy Event. In the afternoon the band then performed solo up at the entrance to the park, although the heavens did decided to open. Sunday evening marked the closing ceremony of the games, with the band once again playing in a massed bands.

A great weekend was had by all and the friendships that were made with other bands, helped to overlook the rainy weather.
